How long are Enterprise audit logs retained, and who can access them?

Enterprise audit records can contain information relevant to administration, security, and operational accountability. Organizations should understand which records are available, how access is controlled, and what retention arrangements apply to their Enterprise environment. Audit access Access to audit information is governed by the applicable platform authorization rules. Users should only be able to access audit information for which they have appropriate permission. The availability of an Enterprise role does not automatically establish access to every audit record. Why should audit access be restricted? Audit records may contain sensitive operational information. Depending on the recorded event, this could include information about user activity, administrative changes, business resources, or security-related events. Unnecessary access may expose information unrelated to an employee's responsibilities. Audit retention Retention refers to the period for which recorded information remains available. The exact retention period for Enterprise audit logs must be determined from the applicable Polyosync configuration, implemented retention policies, and any relevant contractual terms. A universal retention period should not be assumed. Does Polyosync retain audit logs indefinitely? No such guarantee should be assumed. Retention may be subject to technical, contractual, or policy-based limitations. Can an Enterprise customer request a specific retention arrangement? Organizations with specific retention requirements should discuss those requirements with Polyosync. The availability of a particular arrangement depends on the supported platform capabilities and contractual agreement. Can audit records be exported? Export functionality should only be assumed where it is explicitly available in the relevant Enterprise interface or agreed configuration. If an organization requires audit exports for an internal review, it should confirm the supported options with Polyosync Support. Can administrators delete individual audit records? The ability to modify or delete audit information must not be assumed. Audit integrity is an important consideration for security and accountability. How should organizations plan their audit requirements? Step 1: Identify the types of events relevant to the organization. Step 2: Determine who needs access. Step 3: Review the available audit coverage. Step 4: Confirm applicable retention arrangements. Step 5: Identify any internal recordkeeping requirements. Step 6: Review applicable legal and contractual obligations. Step 7: Determine whether additional evidence must be retained in the organization's own systems. Step 8: Establish procedures for incident investigations. Does audit logging automatically establish regulatory compliance? No. Audit logging can support compliance activities, but regulatory compliance depends on a broader set of organizational, legal, and technical requirements. Recommended approach Confirm the actual audit coverage, access permissions, retention period, and available export mechanisms before relying on audit records for a formal compliance or investigation requirement.
