Can I retry a failed automation without duplicating business actions?

Polyosync includes execution safeguards for supported automation actions, but businesses should not assume that every failed workflow can be retried without any possibility of duplicate effects. Retry safety depends on the type of action, the execution state, and how the relevant external system processes requests. What happens when an automation partially completes? A multi-step automation may complete some activities before encountering a failure. For example, an earlier step may have successfully updated an external system before a later step fails. Starting the entire workflow again could repeat an operation that has already taken place. Does Polyosync include protection against duplicate execution? Yes. Polyosync's automation engine uses execution identifiers and action-level tracking for supported operations. These mechanisms help identify previously completed actions within the relevant execution context. However, they do not establish a universal guarantee that every external operation is exactly-once across all integrations and retry scenarios. What should I do before retrying? Review the failed execution and identify which activities completed successfully. Check any external systems affected by the workflow. Determine whether repeating the automation could create duplicate records, messages, transactions, or other unintended changes. If necessary, correct the configuration or underlying error before initiating another run. Can failed actions be retried? Certain failed actions can be retried according to the automation engine's execution logic. The exact behavior depends on the operation and its recorded state. Why is this important for businesses? Reliable automation requires more than the ability to restart a process. It also requires understanding which actions have already taken effect. Polyosync incorporates execution tracking and structured automation management to help businesses investigate failures and make more informed recovery decisions.
